Our slating & tiling services

We carry out slating and tiling work for a range of residential and commercial properties, from individual repairs through to complete roofing projects.

Slate roof repairs – broken, cracked or missing slates can be replaced where the existing roof remains suitable.
Tile roof repairs – slipped, broken or missing tiles can be replaced and affected areas secured where required.
Individual slate and tile replacement – where damage is limited to a small area, individual slates or tiles can be replaced without unnecessary work to the rest of the roof.
Re-slating – where an existing slate roof requires more extensive work, the roof can be re-slated as part of a larger roofing project.
Re-tiling – worn or deteriorated tile roofs can be re-tiled where replacement of the existing covering is required.
New roof slating and tiling – new slate and tile roofs can be installed on suitable residential and commercial properties.

The work required depends on the condition of the existing roof and how much of the covering is affected. Where a localised repair is suitable, only the damaged area needs to be dealt with. For roofs requiring more extensive work, re-slating, re-tiling or a complete new roof can be considered.

I trusted Milligan's with this job after seeing their previous work in the town and I was not disappointed. From the very start the communication was excellent, they turned up when they said and have completed an outstanding job. Milligan's arranged everything including the scaffold and waste removal. 1. What is the difference between slating and tiling?

Slates and tiles are different types of roof covering, with different materials, appearances and characteristics. The appropriate option depends on the property, existing roof and the type of roofing work required.

2. Can damaged roof slates and tiles be replaced?

Yes. Broken, cracked or missing slates and tiles can be replaced where the existing roof is suitable for repair. The surrounding area can also be checked for further damage.

3. Can you replace just a few roof tiles?

Yes. Where the damage is limited to a small area, individual tiles can usually be replaced without replacing the whole roof.

4. Can you repair a slate roof?

Yes. Damaged or missing slates can be replaced as part of a slate roof repair. If the roof requires more extensive work, re-slating may be considered.

5. When does a roof need re-slating or re-tiling?
